Place the tree so the graft union stays above the soil line. Backfill with soil, firm gently, and water deeply after planting. Keep the soil evenly moist while the tree establishes, but avoid waterlogged conditions.
Care After Planting
Bare-root fruit trees need time to wake up and establish after planting. In many climates, new leaves may appear within several weeks, but timing can vary. Avoid heavy fertilizing immediately after planting. Focus on consistent watering, protection from extreme weather, and allowing the root system to settle in.
If planting in a container, use a large pot with drainage holes and a high-quality, well-draining potting mix.
